Cloudflare Artifacts is a versioned storage system designed from the ground up for AI agents. Unlike traditional object storage, it speaks Git natively — agents can create repositories, fork branches, push commits, and read history through REST APIs and a Cloudflare Worker SDK, without any Git client installed. The open-source ArtifactFS driver enables fast async clones via background streams, making large repos accessible in milliseconds. The system targets a real pain point in agentic coding workflows: agents can produce and modify dozens of files per session, but today's shared filesystems aren't built for concurrent agent forks or time-travel debugging. Artifacts gives each agent run its own isolated branch, lets you diff any two agent sessions like a standard git diff, and makes rollbacks trivial. Currently in private beta (public expected May 2026), Artifacts is already integrated with Cloudflare's Workers AI sandbox and its Durable Objects agent runtime. The zero-knowledge guardrails are thoughtful; agents routinely touch API keys and the fact that most monitoring tools just log those plainly is a genuine security problem.
