Open Vibe is a free, open-source 10-week curriculum that teaches web development by having you build real SaaS apps guided interactively by your AI agent (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.). You paste a single prompt into your agent, which downloads the curriculum and then mentors you through building — explaining concepts, quizzing understanding, and pairing live as you code. The curriculum runs entirely on your local machine. No platform lock-in, no token-limit surprises from a hosted sandbox. Phase 1 covers foundational web dev through increasingly complex projects. Phase 2 builds on the Open SaaS template, a production-ready boilerplate with auth, payments, and email already wired up. Interactive overlay diagrams show you how running code works in real time. The core insight is smart: AI coding tools are great at generating code but terrible at building mental models. Open Vibe breaks what it calls the "prompt-fix loop" — where learners endlessly tweak prompts without ever understanding what's happening. MIT licensed and free forever, you only need your own AI subscription to run it.
Reviewer scorecard
“Free, comprehensive, and project-based. The certifications are respected and the community is supportive.”
“This is what AI-assisted learning should look like — building real things with your actual tools, not toy exercises on a locked platform. The 'escape the prompt-fix loop' framing is exactly right. Every new developer should start here before burning months on tutorial hell.”
“Completely free with no catch. The curriculum quality rivals paid alternatives. An incredible resource.”
“It's a curriculum disguised as a product launch. The AI 'mentoring' is just prompt-chaining, and the learning quality depends entirely on how good your AI subscription is. There's no accountability structure, no community, no certification — just you and a text file instructing your agent.”
“Free, open-source education at scale. freeCodeCamp proves that quality technical education can be accessible to everyone.”
“This is a glimpse at the future of education: AI tutors guiding project-based learning at zero marginal cost. The fact that the 'instructor' is your local AI agent means it scales infinitely and personalizes automatically. Traditional bootcamps charging $15K should be very nervous.”
“For designers wanting to go full-stack and ship their own products, this is the most accessible on-ramp I've seen. Real SaaS infrastructure (auth, payments, email) from week one means you learn by building things that matter — not contrived exercises.”
