The DX bet is that developers shouldn't manage N API keys for N inference backends — the complexity is pushed into the routing config, not into your environment variables or secrets manager. First-10-minutes test passes because you're already authenticated if you have an HF token, and the pricing transparency at selection time is genuinely useful instead of a post-hoc billing surprise. The weekend-alternative comparison is real — you could hardcode a provider URL and rotate keys yourself — but the Hub's model catalog integration is the actual moat here, since you'd otherwise have to figure out which providers support which quantization variants of which models.
