The DX bet is that developers shouldn't have to build their own vector store + conversation history + persona scaffolding just to get an agent that remembers things — and that's the right bet, because I've written that plumbing three times and it's always miserable. The REST API surface for memory blocks is the thing I actually want to see in a demo: attach, query, update, done. My hesitation is that the self-hosted MemGPT path already exists, so the hosted value proposition lives entirely on ops convenience — which is real, but the docs need to prove the escape hatch is clean before I commit production workloads to it.”
