The DX bet is 'hide the WebSocket plumbing but expose the session lifecycle,' which is the right call — anyone who's hand-rolled a real-time voice pipeline knows the pain of half-duplex edge cases and barge-in handling. My concern is the 'third-party model support' claim, which on Azure typically means 'it works if the model is already in our catalog.' The moment you try to bring a self-hosted Whisper variant or a non-partnered TTS provider, the abstraction will leak. Ships for enterprise teams already in Azure; everything else should prototype first.”
