The system works by generating secure, tokenized payment credentials that agents can use with spending caps enforced at the infrastructure level. Merchants receive payments through their existing providers (like Stripe) without needing to build custom agent payment integrations. Both Visa and non-Visa cards are supported, which means the network effects kick in immediately.

Nevermined, the AI fintech partner, handles economic orchestration and policy enforcement. Their integration with Coinbase's x402 protocol — which has processed $24 million in transactional volume in the past 30 days — provides the machine-native point-of-sale layer for programmatic purchases. The x402 protocol is particularly relevant for digital goods: API responses, article access, dataset queries, and other micro-purchases that agents consume at scale.
